Andrea Petkovic has reached the quarter-finals of the Miami Open by recording a 6-1 7-5 victory over Ekaterina Makarova.
The German dominated from the start and broke her opponent three times on her way to taking the first set.
In the second set Makarova won three break points of her own, but the Russian's inability to hold her own serve would prove costly, as Petkovic broke her four times to wrap up the set 7-5 and take the match.
Petkovic will now take on Karolina Pliskova in the quarter-finals.
