World number one Novak Djokovic has revealed that he is happy to be playing following a brief break from tennis.
After a month out of action, the Serb has returned to compete in the Rogers Cup, most recently defeating Nikolay Davydenko 7-5 6-1 in the second round.
"I'm happy to be back competing after four weeks away," said the 24-year-old.
"Obviously the holidays came at the right time for me and I really enjoyed myself. But I needed to come back and I needed to work hard and prepare well for the new season.
"It was really important for me to overcome this challenge against a tricky opponent like Davydenko."
As well as the singles event, Djokovic is also competing in the doubles alongside fellow countryman Janko Tipsarevic.
