World number two Victoria Azarenka has said that she is excited by the prospect of competing in her second consecutive US Open final.
The 24-year-old was beaten 6-2 2-6 7-5 by Serena Williams in last year's main event.
However, Azarenka now has the chance to gain revenge over the American, after recording a 6-4 6-2 win over Flavia Pennetta in the last four at Flushing Meadows.
"I am so excited to be back in the final and get the chance to fight for the trophy," Azarenka told reporters.
"It was a great match today. There were lots of emotions. It was tricky because I struggled to find any rhythm and Flavia is such a great fighter. I couldn't get a ball in play."
Williams, who is a 16-time Grand Slam singles champion, made it to Sunday's final with an emphatic 6-0 6-3 victory over China's Li Na.
