British qualifier Dan Evans has insisted that his experience at the US Open was a positive one after losing to Tommy Robredo in the third round.

The 23-year-old, who had beaten seeds Kei Nishikori and Bernard Tomic in his previous two matches, lost to the Spanish veteran on Saturday night.

"It's been a great experience, a great learning curve," Evans told BBC Sport. "I can definitely play with these guys so I should be confident going into the next tournaments."

Evans earned £60,000 for reaching round three of the Grand Slam in New York.
