Fabio Fognini: 'Beating Rafael Nadal was incredible'

Fabio Fognini admits that his US Open third-round clash with Rafael Nadal was "incredible" after he came back from two sets down to beat the two-time champion.

Fabio Fognini has admitted that he was almost lost for words after prevailing from an epic encounter with Rafael Nadal in the US Open third round on Friday night.

Nadal raced into a two-set advantage but Fognini fought back to win in three hours and 46 minutes, and the Italian has acknowledged that he had played a part in an "incredible" match.

The 28-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I can't describe how happy I am. It was very tough. To do it against Rafa, two sets down - it was an incredible match."

Fognini will now play 18th seed Feliciano Lopez in the fourth round.
