Li Na "so happy" with landmark US Open win

Li Na says that she is "so happy" after reaching the last four at the US Open for the very first time.

World number six Li Na has expressed her delight after reaching the semi-finals of the US Open for the first time in her career.

The Chinese fifth seed dispatched Russian 24th seed Ekaterina Makarova with a 4-6 7-6 2-6 win on Tuesday.

The victory marks the first time that Li has ever made the final four at Flushing Meadows, and she is thrilled with her achievement.

"I'm so happy," Li said. "After losing the second set I was a little disappointed because I was 4-2 up in the tie-breaker, but I told myself point by point to try my best on the court."

Li will face defending champion and world number one Serena Williams in the round.
