Li Na overcame the challenge of Casey Dellacqua to book her place in round three of the US Open this evening.
The current world number nine required just one break of Dellacqua's serve to claim the opening set 6-4.
However, rather than cruising into the next round, Li was made to work hard by her Australian opponent during the second set.
Dellacqua actually broke Li at the first time of asking, before going on to open up a 3-0 advantage.
Li responded positively by winning six of the next seven games to secure a slot in the next round.
She will now face either Laura Robson or Kim Clijsters.
