British number one Laura Robson has been eliminated in the third round of the US Open following a 6-2 7-5 defeat to the experienced Li Na.
The Chinese took control of the match in the early stages, breaking Robson's serve before holding to move 2-0 ahead. Another break followed at 1-3, before Li secured the first set 6-2.
It was Robson that impressed in the early stages of the second, however, breaking before holding twice to move into a comprehensive 3-0 lead.
Li got stronger as the set progressed, however, breaking back at 1-3 and once more at 5-5, allowing the 31-year-old to book her spot in the next round on serve.
