Heather Watson has been eliminated in the first round of Wimbledon following a 6-3 7-5 defeat to American Madison Keys on Tuesday.

The Brit was broken in her second service game of the match, before Keys held to move into a 3-1 lead in the opening set.

Watson did recover to secure back-to-back holds, but another break of serve in the latter stages allowed Keys to move into a one-set lead.

The opening three service games of the second set were all broken, but it was Keys who broke twice more in the latter stages, eventually taking the second set 7-5 to book her spot in the second round.
