Jenna McCorkell: 'I want to make Britain proud'

Team GB figure skater Jenna McCorkell admits that she wants to make her fans back home "proud".

Great Britain figure skater Jenna McCorkell has admitted that she wants to make her fans back home "proud".

The 27-year-old, who will be competing in her second Winter Olympics, finished 29th overall at the Vancouver Games four years ago, and is eager to make up for it at Sochi.

McCorkell, an 11-time British title winner, told the News Letter: "I'm trying not to look back. Obviously Vancouver wasn't what I wanted it to be but I learned quite a lot from it. I've been training well and done everything I possibly can have done over the past couple of years to prepare for this.

"I've had unbelievable support from back home. I couldn't have done it without it. I've had so many messages on Twitter and Facebook I haven't been able to keep up with them all, from old school teachers to family and friends who I haven't heard from for a while all wishing me the best so it's been great and I really appreciate them all. I hope I make them all proud."

The Coleraine athlete will be in action later on today for Team GB in figure skating's team event.
