Olympic snowboard half-pipe qualifiers to go ahead as planned

The International Ski Federation decides not to postpone the men's Olympic snowboarding half-pipe first qualification run.

The International Ski Federation has decided not to postpone the men's Olympic snowboarding half-pipe first qualification run, which will take place at 10am GMT as originally scheduled.

It had previously been suggested that the riders would have had to compete only in a semi-final, with the top 12 advancing to the final, but this plan has been shelved.

"Warm temperatures have softened the snow, while some have questioned the build quality, with Winter X Games halfpipe experts overlooked in the design and construction phase," BBC Sport reported prior to the decision being made.

Speaking on Monday, United States snowboarder and double gold medallist Shaun White told reporters: "I'm hoping they can do whatever they can to make it a better pipe."
