Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine has revealed that his side's quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel are embracing the competition to earn the starter's spot for the 2014 season.
Hoyer became the Browns' starter last season after ousting Brandon Weeden only for him to tear his ACL in his third game, while the club picked Manziel 22nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, and duo are now ready to battle it out to be under center come the first game of the season.
"I don't know if they're going to be sending each other Christmas cards anytime soon," Pettine told reporters.
"But they know they're both in it together and they're going to compete and I think they both feel comfortable that as a staff we're going to put the best quarterback [out there] that puts us in position to win games."
Cleveland finished with a 4-12 record in the 2013 season.
