England diver Tom Daley eyes Australia revenge

Tom Daley says that he will be using the disappointment of losing gold to Australia in Friday's synchro as motivation to go one better in the platform final.

England diver Tom Daley has revealed that missing out on gold in the 10m synchronised event has only intensified his hunger to seal first place in tonight's individual platform final.

Daley and diving partner James Denny came agonisingly close to winning last night's synchro, settling for silver after finishing behind Australia by 0.18 of a mark.

Consequently, the 20-year-old admits that the slim margin of defeat still irks him, and says that he is keen to make amends by retaining his Commonwealth title on the 10m platform.

"Missing out on the gold before does make you want to go out there and take it. I'll give it my best shot," he told BBC Sport.

The Plymouth local will dive last tonight after winning this afternoon's preliminary.
