Ian Wright: 'Time for Theo Walcott to leave Arsenal'

Ian Wright believes that the time has come for Theo Walcott to bring an end to his Arsenal career after another below-par display in the EFL Cup win over Norwich City.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has called on Theo Walcott to leave the club after slipping out of the first-team picture under Arsene Wenger.

The 28-year-old has been used sparingly in the Premier League so far this season, making all three of his appearances from the substitutes' bench.

Walcott has instead had to make do with cup outings, being used for the full match on Tuesday evening as Arsenal battled to a 2-1 win against Norwich City after extra time.

Wright believes that the time has come for the England international to consider quitting, however, having failed to impress once again in the EFL Cup tie.

"I think so, for [his own] sake," he told Sky Sports News. "I'm not sure where he can go now with Arsenal and he's only playing in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.

"He'll want to finish on a high in respect of what he's doing. He's given Arsenal great service in the time he's been there and for me he should move on for himself."

Walcott has three goals and an assist to his name from eight appearances in 2017-18, most recently setting up Olivier Giroud's late winner against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League last week.
