Arsene Wenger warns Cardiff City fans: 'Boo Aaron Ramsey at your peril'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that Cardiff fans would be wise not to boo their former player Aaron Ramsey when he returns to face them on Saturday.

Cardiff City supporters run the risk of "inspiring" Aaron Ramsey should they elect to boo their former player for the visit of Arsenal this afternoon, according to Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.

The 22-year-old, who started his career with the Welsh outfit, has often been subjected to a hostile reception from Swansea City fans due to his association with the Bluebirds.

Nevertheless, the Wales international scored in the Gunners' 1-2 victory at the Liberty Stadium earlier this season, and Wenger has warned City's fanbase that they could be silenced in a similar fashion should they boo the midfielder.

Speaking to The Mirror, the Frenchman said: "At Swansea [the boos] inspired him. The first time it happened it affected him, now he takes that in a more positive way.

"I don't think he will get a hostile reception, not at Cardiff, I don't think he will.

"He got a hostile reception at Swansea because, like everywhere in the world, Swansea hates Cardiff and Cardiff hates Swansea."

The Welshman enjoyed a one-month loan spell at his former club in 2011 as part of his rehabilitation for the long-term injury sustained at Stoke City the previous year.

Today's clash at the Cardiff City Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 3pm.
