Bundesliga side Hamburg have won the race to sign Xherdan Shaqiri from FC Basle, according to Metro.
The Swiss playmaker has been linked with a number of top European sides, including Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and AC Milan.
However Hamburg, who are currently bottom of the Bundesliga, have stolen a march in the race to sign the 20-year-old.
Hamburg manager Thorsten Fink has identified Shaqiri as the man to turn around his team's fortunes.
The German side are expected to make their move with a bid of £7m during the January transfer window.
