Mikel Arteta admits that he is unsure if Arsenal will be able to bring in any new signings before the January transfer window closes for business.

Mikel Arteta has admitted that he does not know if Arsenal will be able to make any new acquisitions during the January transfer window.

The Gunners have allowed Pablo Mari and Ainsley Maitland-Niles to leave the club on loan this month but are yet to bring any new faces to the Emirates amid their ongoing selection concerns.

Arsenal continue to be frustrated in their pursuit of Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic amid their search for attacking reinforcements, with Arteta witnessing his side come up short in Sunday's goalless draw with Burnley.

When asked post-match if Arsenal could pull off any deals late in the window, Arteta said: "Well, we are certainly trying, but I don't know if we're going to be able to do it. Let's see, it's not only our intention, but a lot of facts that are needed to happen," as quoted by arsenal.com.

"The market is difficult, it's complicated. We knew that, but it's a lot to manage and we have to make the right decisions with players that we believe are going to really help us and try to bring in ones that can take us to the next level."

Arsenal failed to climb back into the top four with Sunday's stalemate but remain just two points behind Manchester United with a game in hand.

Arteta will at least welcome the returns of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey back from suspension for the meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers following the international break.
