Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirms that rumoured Newcastle United target Lucas Perez will leave the club this summer.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Lucas Perez will leave the club this summer.

Perez joined the Gunners in a £17.1m deal last year, but he struggled to work his way into Wenger's first-team plans at the Emirates Stadium and made just two Premier League starts throughout last season.

The 28-year-old's agent has claimed that a number of clubs around Europe - including Newcastle United, Sevilla and Fenerbahce - are interested in signing him, and Wenger has now confirmed that he will be sold during the current transfer window.

"I don't like to lose him... but we have main strikers and too much competition is no competition anymore," he told reporters.

Perez made 21 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions last season, scoring seven goals.
