Miguel Moya could reportedly start the season as Atletico Madrid's number one goalkeeper.
Moya, who arrived from Getafe this summer, was initially expected to act as back-up to whoever replaced Thibaut Courtois, who returned to parent club Chelsea.
Jan Oblak eventually arrived from Benfica as Courtois's replacement, but the tall goalkeeper has struggled with a back injury since making the move from Portugal.
Moya, however, has hugely impressed head coach Diego Simeone with his performances and according to Marca, the experienced stopper is now in line to start the season.
Atletico face Real Madrid in the Super Cup first leg on August 19.
