Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Villarreal

Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash with Villarreal.

Barcelona will be looking to return to winning ways when they continue their 2019-20 La Liga campaign away to Villarreal on Sunday night.

The Spanish champions have shared the points in three of their last four in Spain's top flight, including a 2-2 draw at home to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

The Catalan outfit have relinquished first spot in the table to Real Madrid and could be seven points behind Los Blancos by the time that they take to the field against the Yellow Submarine, albeit with a game in hand.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barca's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Villarreal, who have been in impressive form since the league's restart.

Ousmane Dembele

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Dembele has struggled with injuries throughout the season, making just five La Liga appearances and nine in all competitions. The Frenchman has been out since the end of November with his latest hamstring issue, and he will not be able to return for the Spanish champions until next season.

Frenkie de Jong

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: July 8 (vs. Espanyol)

De Jong is again expected to miss out against Villarreal as he continues to battle a calf problem. The Netherlands international could return against Espanyol on July 8, though, which could be a huge boost for the champions, who have work to do if they are to retain the title.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barca have no suspension issues heading into Sunday's clash with the Yellow Submarine.
