Sean Dyche: 'Jose Mourinho needs time to settle'

Burnley boss Sean Dyche backs Jose Mourinho to succeed at Manchester United once the Portuguese has been given time to settle.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has insisted that Jose Mourinho needs time to settle at Manchester United after making a fairly underwhelming start to his Old Trafford tenure.

The Red Devils recorded a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Manchester City in the League Cup on Wednesday night, but were thumped 4-0 at Chelsea in the Premier League last weekend to leave them seventh in the table.

Dyche, however, who will take his Burnley team to Man United on Saturday afternoon, is not buying into suggestions that Mourinho will fail at Old Trafford.

"They are a fine side, just look at the bench. They are top players, with a top manager," Dyche told reporters.

"I just think it takes time to mould a team, no matter who you are. They have a top group of players, that's not changed. Results come and go, for whatever reason, but I think they are a top side.

"There's a lot made of the ins and outs and ups and downs of whatever goes on at the top clubs, but it takes time to work with a group of players, whether you have a high class background like Jose Mourinho or not."

Burnley have won three of their nine league matches this season, although each of those wins have come on home soil.
