Crystal Palace are reportedly planning to hijack Celtic's proposed move for Vitoria Guimaraes striker Amido Balde.

The Scottish champions were understood to be close to signing the 22-year-old for a transfer fee of £2.5m.

However, according to The Mirror, Palace have thrown that deal into doubt by outbidding the Bhoys at the last minute.

Balde, who has been capped 26 times by Portugal at various youth levels, scored nine goals in 27 league appearances for Victoria last season.
