Half-Time Report: Blackburn Rovers lead Charlton Athletic at break

Blackburn Rovers go into the break 1-0 up over a below-par Charlton Athletic at Ewood Park.

Blackburn Rovers have gone into the break 1-0 up over a below-par Charlton Athletic at Ewood Park.

Tony Watt had the first effort of the afternoon, chipping over the on-rushing Jason Steele but failing to find the target.

Jordan Rhodes then broke the offside trap but Nick Pope did extremely well to pull off a one-handed save to deny the striker. The Scot and Ben Marshall then tested Pope a couple more times in quick succession but the young goalkeeper held firm.

Pope was kept busy by some more Marshall shots and athletic efforts by Bengali-Fode Koita, before Watt had a chance on goal well blocked by Adam Henley.

Rhodes finally gave his side the lead on the stroke of half time, the striker meeting an inviting cross and heading into the net.
