Roy Hodgson: 'No agents in England World Cup camp'

England manager Roy Hodgson puts a ban on agents from his side's World Cup camp in order to stop the players getting distracted.

Roy Hodgson has revealed that he will ban agents from England's tournament base during the World Cup.

The 66-year-old announced his 23-man squad on Monday, giving the nod to in-demand Southampton duo Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana.

Manchester United have reportedly made a £27m bid for Shaw, while Lallana is also being linked with a move away from St Mary's this summer, namely to Liverpool.

"I am definitely not going to have agents swirling around or any cases of this or that player has got to leave the camp," Hodgson is quoted as saying by The Express. "I would expect the players to understand that. I am going to make it very clear to the players that England is England and your club is your club.

"The two are not married together. I think they are happy with that. I am concerned that they sign up for this World Cup and sign up to do a good job for England. Your club future is what it is and it will be taken care of outside of England time.

"When we are together with England, we are England and it is England that matters. If you have got matters to resolve you do it outside of England time. I am thinking about medicals in particular. I can't stop phone calls."

England get their World Cup preparations underway with a friendly against Peru at Wembley Stadium on May 30.
