UEFA president Michel Platini insists that no plans have been made to scrap the Europa League.

UEFA president Michel Platini has insisted that he has not decided to scrap the Europa League.

The Frenchman has reiterated that the European governing body are going to discuss potential changes to the format of the Champions League, which could result in 64 teams competing in the elite competition.

"We are discussing it and we will take a decision in 2014. Nothing has been decided for the time being, that is what I said," said Platini.

"Then, I read in the papers that there was a war, that was going to stop the Europa League. I said nothing of the sort."

Meanwhile, Platini has claimed that football fans would be happy to see Euro 2020 being staged in cities across Europe.
