Darren Bent explains Crystal Palace snub

Darren Bent explains that he joined Fulham instead of Crystal Palace because he thought it was the right club for him.

Darren Bent has revealed that he turned down a move to Crystal Palace because he felt that Fulham was the right club for him.

The 29-year-old was prepared to make a loan switch to Selhurst Park, but the Aston Villa player decided to join the Cottagers instead after manager Martin Jol made a late bid.

"I spoke to Ian Holloway but I always knew Fulham was the place for me," Bent told the London Evening Standard.

"No disrespect to Crystal Palace or Ian Holloway, they are a fantastic club and he is a fantastic manager but I could only ever see myself coming to Fulham."

Bent could play against Palace when the two sides meet on Monday evening.
