Lazio handed two-match partial stadium ban for racist chanting

Lazio are hit with a two-match partial stadium ban after their Serie A clash with Napoli had to be stopped due to racist chanting.

Lazio have been handed a two-match partial stadium ban after allegations of racist abuse aimed at a Napoli player during their Serie A clash on Wednesday evening.

Visiting defender Kalidou Koulibaly was subjected to abuse by a section of the home fans at the Stadio Olimpico, forcing referee Massimiliano Irrati to stop play until the chanting ceased.

Irrati included the incident in his report, and a disciplinary tribunal has now decided to close the North stand of the stadium, where Lazio's most fervent supporters gather.

The ban will be in effect for their next home league game against Hellas Verona, while it also activated a suspended ban from February of last year for another incident of racist chanting, meaning that the stand will remain closed when they host Sassuolo.

Lazio, who have also been fined £38,000, went on to lose the match 2-0 against the Serie A leaders.
