Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson rues missed chances against Aston Villa

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson claims that poor finishing was at the root of his team's defeat to Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the FA Cup fifth round.

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has admitted that poor finishing cost his side during their FA Cup fifth-round defeat to Aston Villa.

The Foxes failed to reach the quarter-finals of the competition on Sunday as they were beaten 2-1 by their Premier League rivals at Villa Park.

Pearson believes that wasted chances and an inability to control the game were to blame for his team's exit.

"We have to take our chances, we had chances in the first half," he told BBC Sport. "The first 15 minutes I don't think we were very fluent with the ball but after that we did pretty well. In the second half, we just could not keep hold of the ball, it kept coming back at us.

"We have to make sure our performances are more consistent. That is what is more annoying, players when they are in the side have to make sure they produce performances that make it difficult to make changes."

Leicester are back in Premier League action next Sunday when they make the trip to Everton.
