Nigel Pearson: 'I believe in my players'

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson says that he has "a lot of belief" in his players despite seeing them slip to their fifth defeat in six outings this afternoon.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has insisted that he will not break the bank when the transfer window reopens, despite his side's worrying loss of form.

The Tigers were edged out 2-0 by Southampton at St Mary's this afternoon in what was their fifth loss in six games.

Despite this, Pearson insists that he has "a lot of belief" in his players' ability to turn their fortunes around at the bottom end of the Premier League table.

"I'm not sure what funds will be available," he is quoted as saying by BT Sport. "I'm not saying that we won't do any business but I don't think we need wholesale changes. It's always nice to add quality but likewise you can't change everything.

"I have a lot of belief in the players we have at the moment. While you're not getting positive results, there is going to be negativity. We have to break that cycle.

"We've got some very capable players but it's not happening for us at the moment. But we'll continue to work in the way that we always work."

Leicester return to action following the two-week international break with a home match against Sunderland.
