Liverpool Under-23s boss Neil Critchley impressed with Nathaniel Clyne comeback

Liverpool Under-23s boss Neil Critchley praises the attitude of Nathaniel Clyne after the defender made his first appearance after seven months out with a back injury.

Liverpool Under-23s boss Neil Critchley has revealed that Nathaniel Clyne was determined to complete the 90 minutes on his first appearance after recovering from a back injury.

Having been sidelined since July, Clyne impressed as Liverpool's second string ran out 4-0 winners over Stoke City in their Premier League 2 clash on Sunday.

Clyne is likely to have more work to do in order to force his way back into Jurgen Klopp's plans for the remainder of the campaign, but Critchley has said that he was delighted with the player's attitude at the weekend.

Critchley told the club's official website: "He has not played for seven months and the plan was to see how long he would go for. He kept putting his thumb up and saying he was okay.

"He obviously wanted to see out the 90 minutes, which was great for him. I thought he was a great example to our players in the way he managed himself during the game."

Clyne's last competitive appearance came against Middlesbrough on May 21.
