Brendan Rodgers wants to build Liverpool legacy

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers reveals that he wants to further develop the club in his own way to help the Reds build a legacy under his tenure.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he wants to build a legacy at the club.

The Reds are closing in on their first top-flight title in 24 years following an excellent run of form in the second half of the season.

Rodgers has admitted that he is eyeing a lengthy tenure at Anfield to help the club reach their full potential.

He told reporters: "I came to Liverpool because I hoped it would be a destination rather than just a stopping-off point. I felt the club had everything you would want as a football manager.

"It's one of the leading clubs in the world and I want to be allowed to build and develop the club without interference. I have a great relationship with the owners and, hopefully, we can continue to develop the team.

"We've still got a long way to go, but I'm looking five years ahead. I'm looking at the expansion of the stadium – just imagine Anfield with another 20,000 supporters in it. I'm 41, I've got many years ahead of me – but there aren't too many bigger than Liverpool."

Liverpool can go five points clear of Chelsea in second place with three games to go if they beat Norwich City later today.
