Jurgen Klopp hints at quiet January for Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hints that he is currently undecided over whether to sign new players during the January transfer window.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has suggested that he will not be in the market for a new defender in the January transfer window.

During the summer, Liverpool missed out on signing Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk and a renewed bid for the Dutchman looks unlikely in January.

The Merseyside giants have remained inconsistent in their defensive third this season, but Klopp has hinted that he does not see the solution being the addition of a new player.

The 50-year-old told reporters: "What, because our defensive record has been good, I don't need to sign a defensive player or something like this? That will never stop, until we do it. I love the game, but I don't think the solution is always to sign a new player.

"When we defend well, I'm happy and when we defend badly I am not but I don't think the solution is just to sign a player like that. I am a supporter but I cannot be a supporter in this way - I cannot change my mind like that."

Liverpool currently possess the sixth-best defence in the Premier League, with all but three of the 20 goals which have been conceded coming on their travels.
