Kostas Tsimikas is set to sign a new deal with Liverpool, as a two-year extension is reportedly on the table.

Liverpool have reportedly offered left-back Kostas Tsimikas a new contract extension, which would keep him at Anfield until 2027.

The Greece international is now in his fourth season with Liverpool, after arriving from Olympiacos in his homeland.

While often playing backup to first-choice Andy Robertson, Tsimikas has still played an important role in the squad during his tenure with Liverpool.

As Liverpool chased an unprecedented quadruple in 2021-22, Tsimikas's ability to fill in when required was a huge asset to manager Jurgen Klopp, given the side's hectic calendar.

Tsimikas played 13 times in the Premier League as Liverpool came narrowly short to Manchester City once again, while featuring a further 13 times across the other three cup competitions in which they went all the way.

It was the left-back who scored the winning penalty in their FA Cup final victory over Chelsea at Wembley, undoubtedly the highest point of his Liverpool career so far.

As a reward for his willingness to settle as second-choice and provide strength in depth while fighting for a starting spot, The Athletic claims that Tsimikas has been offered a two-year contract extension.

That would keep the 27-year-old at the club for a further four years, and maintain cover in that position for Klopp, allowing the club to focus on strengthening in other areas.

Tsimikas was involved much more last season, featuring in 20 Premier League matches and registering four assists despite Liverpool's albeit disappointing campaign.

When the cup competitions begin after the international break, Tsimikas should expect more game time, considering that he has played just five minutes of action so far this season.

Tsimikas remains an integral part of his national team though, and played the full 90 minutes in Greece's defeat to Netherlands on Thursday.
