Alexandre Lacazette, rumoured to be a target for Newcastle United, has reportedly moved a step closer to signing a new contract with Lyon.
Newcastle are believed to have made a second approach for the French forward this week, despite Lyon's apparent reluctance to discuss a possible transfer.
According to the Newcastle Chronicle, Lacazette is willing to extend his stay at the club, and an offer of a new deal is on the table.
The Magpies have signed Daryl Janmaat, Siem de Jong, Remy Cabella and Emmanuel Riviere this summer as Alan Pardew looks to improve on last season's 10th-place finish in the Premier League.
