Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says that "there is some truth" to rumours that Manchester City could sell Wilfried Bony to China in the January transfer window.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has conceded that the Potters could lose on-loan Wilfried Bony to the Chinese Super League during the January transfer window.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Manchester City have a release clause in the agreement with Stoke, which would allow Bony to return to his parent club in January if a bid from China arrives.

Hughes has admitted that "there is some truth" in the rumours that Bony could be sold by Man City in January, but the Welshman is confident that the striker wants to stay in English football.

"There is some truth to that, but I'm not too sure that will affect anything here in January," Hughes told reporters.

"Wilf is more focused on focusing his career in the Premier League, and unless he comes in and says he has had an offer from China then we anticipate him being here. We want him to be here and we feel there is still plenty more to come from him."

Bony, 27, has scored twice in nine Premier League appearances for Stoke this season.
