Joel Matip: 'I should have scored'

Liverpool centre-back Joel Matip praises David de Gea for his save during the 0-0 draw with Manchester United, but admits that he should have scored.

Liverpool defender Joel Matip has admitted that he should have scored during Saturday's goalless draw with Manchester United at Anfield.

Matip came closest to breaking the deadlock during the stalemate on Merseyside, but his effort from six yards out was denied by a stunning save from David de Gea.

The Cameroon international acknowledged the quality of the stop from the United goalkeeper, but admits that he was frustrated not to have scored from the game's best chance.

"I have to score, but he saved it really brilliantly," Matip told reporters.

"Opportunities like this we have to use and it was a little bit unlucky and frustrating."

The result gave Liverpool their first clean sheet in eight matches, although they have won just one of those games.
