Manchester United could break a club record and extend their own Premier League record with victory over Crystal Palace in their opening game this afternoon.

Manchester United could create a slice of history when they get their Premier League campaign underway against Crystal Palace this afternoon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were granted a delayed start to the new campaign due to their involvement in the latter stages of the Europa League last term, and will be looking to continue a welcome recent trend.

United have won their opening league game in each of their last five seasons, and victory over Palace at Old Trafford would see them make it six in a row in the top flight for the first time in their history.

In addition to that club record, the Red Devils could extend a Premier League record of winning their opening match of the campaign for a 20th time.

However, they will be wary of a Crystal Palace side that won at Old Trafford last season and began their 2020-21 campaign with a 1-0 win over Southampton.

Indeed, the Eagles could start the season with back-to-back victories for the first time in the club's top-flight history.
