Carlos Queiroz positive David Moyes will come good

Former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz insists that David Moyes will prove to be a successful appointment.

Former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has insisted that David Moyes has the backing of the Old Trafford board and will eventually prove himself to be a good appointment.

The Scot was named as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor in the summer, but has since overseen United's worst start to the Premier League season and watched them knocked out of the FA Cup by Swansea City.

The Red Devils ended a run of three straight losses with a 2-0 victory over the Swans in the league on Saturday, a result which moved them to within nine points of the top of the table.

"That is the present situation, the fans, David and the players are not happy," Queiroz told reporters. "I know how much the players have a strong wish and determination to come back and I'm sure in a short period of time they will find the right track and it is just a matter of time.

"It is my strong belief, because I know the club and it is very strong, when the board make a decision they trust the people they chose.

"And I'm sure with the qualities and experience David has, plus the wonderful work he did at Everton and the support of the entire board, soon the results will come out and everything will be all right."

Queiroz, now manager of Iran, had two spells as Ferguson's number two, first from 2002-2003, before returning to the Red Devils for a four-year spell between 2004 and 2008 following a failed stint at Real Madrid.
