Bastian Schweinsteiger backs Manchester United for silverware

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger backs the team to challenge on multiple fronts this season.

Bastian Schweinsteiger has backed Manchester United to challenge for multiple trophies this season.

The Germany international midfielder, 30, joined the Red Devils last week following a 17-year association with Bayern Munich.

Despite being at the club for a short period of time, Schweinsteiger already believes that United are ready to battle on multiple fronts during the 2015-16 campaign.

"I have to say the quality is huge," he told the club's official website. "I am sure with this team, it is possible to win titles and after a week I can say that.

"We have a good defence, we have good defensive players, and we have quality players who can make the difference in high-level matches. There are some guys who will come later, so I think this team has a lot of possibilities and qualities."

Schweinsteiger and his Manchester United teammates are currently on their pre-season tour of the USA.
