Luke Shaw: 'Bastian Schweinsteiger will help Manchester United push for trophies'

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw hopes that new signing Bastian Schweinsteiger will help the club challenge for trophies this season.

Luke Shaw has said that the addition of Bastian Schweinsteiger will help Manchester United "push for some trophies" during the 2015-16 season.

The team missed out on silverware last season, but will be back in the Champions League this term, while looking to improve on last year's displays in the League Cup and FA Cup.

The defender told Sky Sports News: "He's a massive legend. For someone with that much experience to come into the team will be vital to help us push for some trophies this season.

"He's one of the most humble guys I've come across. He's not not too loud and he's quite funny at the same time. It's nice to have a German around in the dressing room."

United host Tottenham Hotspur in the opening match of the new Premier League season on Saturday.
