Fulham are reportedly in the race alongside newly-promoted Leicester City to sign Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson on loan in January.

Fulham have reportedly joined Leicester City in the race for Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.

The 20-year-old has been attracting interest from the Foxes in recent weeks, while also being linked to Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal.

Ferguson has failed to cement a regular spot in the Brighton XI at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign, scoring just one goal across seven top-flight appearances.

The forward is a regular on the international stage, though, starting twice for the Republic of Ireland this month, finding the net in the UEFA Nations League success over Finland.

Since making the switch over the Irish Sea from Bohemians in 2021, Ferguson has featured on 74 occasions for Brighton in the first team, making the net ripple 17 times.

Fulham 'join race' alongside Leicester for Brighton's Ferguson

According to Football Insider, a new Premier League outfit have entered the race for the services of Ferguson ahead of the January transfer window.

The report claims that top-flight battlers Fulham are keen on securing the signature of the Republic of Ireland star in the upcoming winter market.

It is understood that the Cottagers are targeting a loan acquisition of out-of-favour Ferguson until the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign.

The signing of a top-class forward is supposedly a key priority for Marco Silva's men this January as they aim to mount an unlikely challenge for a European berth.

It is believed that Ferguson is unhappy with his game time on the South coast so far this term and would welcome a temporary move to another Premier League club.

Does Ferguson have the potential to be a Craven Cottage star?

During the 2022-23 term, young striker Ferguson burst onto the Premier League scene, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists across 25 top-flight matches.

Since then, the 20-year-old has struggled with form and an ankle issue, impacting his development just as he threatened to blossom into a top-class forward.

With Raul Jimenez currently leading the line at Craven Cottage, Ferguson would arguably have a good chance of breaking into the starting XI for Fulham.

A positive loan spell at either the Cottagers or Leicester could bring the attacker back into the first-team thinking of Fabian Hurzeler at Brighton for the 2025-26 season.
