MK Dons midfielder Samir Carruthers: 'I've let everyone down"

MK Dons midfielder midfielder Samir Carruthers apologises for his actions at the Cheltenham Festival on Tuesday, where he was seen urinating into a glass.

MK Dons midfielder midfielder Samir Carruthers has vowed to accept whatever punishment comes his way following his actions at the Cheltenham Festival on Tuesday.

Carruthers was seen urinating into a glass on day one of the festival before pouring the contents over the balcony, which brought outrage when the pictures emerged on Tuesday night.

The 22-year-old has claimed that he feels "so embarrassed" by his actions and branded the incident "a silly mistake".

"I don't want to be known as that idiot who urinated in a pint glass. I feel so embarrassed. I just want to say sorry to everyone - my family, my club, my chairman. I've not been raised to do something like that. I've let everyone down," he told Sky Sports News.

"I have to take the criticism that comes with it. It's not something that should be laughed about. It's not an example I should be giving to kids. I'm meant to be a role model and I have to live by my actions. I really am hurt by what I've done. It was a silly mistake.

"The club are very let down with me and I'm being disciplined. I have to take their criticism. I know how much they had faith in me not to do something like that. I'm really sorry to Cheltenham too because they let me in and I obviously embarrassed everyone."

Northampton Town centre-forward James Collins also reportedly committed a similar act.
