Crawley Town name Steve Coppell as director of football

Crawley Town appoint Steve Coppell as their new director of football after Steve Evans left for Rotherham United.

Crawley Town have made Steve Coppell their director of football.

The appointment has been made after manager Steve Evans left the Red Devils to take charge of League Two rivals Rotherham United on Saturday.

Chief eecutive Alan Williams told the Crawley Town website: "Bringing someone with Steve's stature in football as well as his experience and detailed knowledge of the game to Crawley Town is another important milestone in the development of the club.

"Steve's background and pedigree will help us to achieve our aims of pushing into League One and beyond and I am sure his appointment will be welcomed by everyone with Crawley Town FC at heart."

Craig Brewster will remain as caretaker manager until the end of the season, with Crawley currently sitting fourth in the table and vying for an automatic promotion spot.
