Palermo have confirmed that midfielder Luca Rigoni will require surgery after fracturing his jaw during the Italian outfit's 1-0 defeat to Empoli on Monday.
Rigoni, who also fractured his eye socket during the same incident, will undergo an operation in Milan on Wednesday afternoon.
Palermo have not revealed how long the 30-year-old will be on the sidelines, but a statement is expected following completion of the surgery.
Rigoni, who joined Palermo from Chievo in the summer of 2014, has scored once in nine league appearances for his Italian club this season.
