How Paris Saint-Germain could line up against Nice

Sports Mole looks at how Paris Saint-Germain could line up against Nice, including a return for Kylian Mbappe as the French champions chase history.

Paris Saint-Germain could equal an 82-year-old record this Saturday when they take on Nice at the Allianz Riviera.

The defending champions have already made their best-ever start to a Ligue 1 season by winning each of their opening seven games, and an eighth this weekend would see them match the best-ever start to a top-flight campaign in France.

Olympique Lillois - one of the predecessors of modern-day club Lille - were the last team to win all eight of their opening Ligue 1 fixtures, doing so in the 1936-37 campaign.

Free-scoring PSG could write their own names into French football folklore this weekend, and here Sports Mole looks at how they could line up for the potentially historic match.

Possible PSG XI vs. Nice

Out: Dani Alves, Layvin Kurzawa
Doubtful: Alec Georgen, Lassana Diarra, Juan Bernat

The big news for PSG ahead of this weekend's match is that Kylian Mbappe is free to return from suspension, having missed the last three games following his red card at the start of the month.

Thomas Tuchel will be able to field the 'big three' of Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani for only the third time in the league this season, then - a frightening prospect considering that they have already scored 24 goals.

Things could still improve defensively, though, and with Juan Bernat an injury doubt Tuchel could switch Presnel Kimpembe out to the left and start with a centre-back partnership of Thiago Silva and Marquinhos.

The likes of Thomas Meunier and Angel Di Maria were rested from the start during the midweek win over Reims and could return this weekend too.
