Neymar's Paris Saint-Germain debut delayed

Neymar will not make his debut for Paris Saint-Germain today, Ligue 1 confirms, after the required paperwork misses the deadline.

Neymar has not been cleared in time to make his debut for Paris Saint-Germain today, Ligue 1 has confirmed.

The 25-year-old penned terms on a world-record, £200m switch from Barcelona on Thursday night and had hoped to join Les Parisiens for the first game of the season today.

In a statement, Ligue 1 confirmed that the required paperwork in order to clear Neymar to play was not submitted by the midnight Friday deadline, meaning that he will play no part in this afternoon's encounter with Amiens at the Parc des Princes.

The game's original kickoff time of 4pm has been delayed by 15 minutes in order to allow the club to show off their new signing to fans in the stadium.

Neymar's PSG debut is now likely to come in an away fixture at Guingamp on Sunday, August 13.
