Queens Park Rangers forward Charlie Austin fine with scruffy goals

Charlie Austin says that he does not care how he scores goals as long as his Queens Park Rangers team are winning.

Queens Park Rangers forward Charlie Austin has said that he does not care how he scores goals as long as he is helping his team win.

Austin has been a regular starter ahead of Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson since moving to Loftus Road from Burnley in the summer, and has helped the club to an unbeaten five-win-from-six start that sees them level with Blackpool at the top of the Championship.

The 24-year-old scored his first league goal for the West London side on Saturday against Birmingham City and although it was just a tap-in, Austin was happy to get off the mark.

"I get into the positions that defenders don't like defending, and nine times out of ten my goals come from inside the box like it did on Saturday," he told Rangers's official website.

"I don't care how they go in. Even if the ball hits off my shin, as long as it ends up in the net that's what matters. For a centre forward, it's another one on the tally."

Next up for Austin and QPR is a visit from Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday night.
