Second-half goals from Simon Church and Adam Le Fondre helped Reading to secure a 2-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers at the Madejski Stadium.
Neither side were able to break the deadlock during the opening 45 minutes, but just six minutes after the restart Church put the home side in front from close range.
One became two just seven minutes later when Adam Le Fondre scored his first goal for the Royals, heading in Joseph Mills's cross.
Both sides are back in action next Saturday, with Reading travelling to Coventry City, while Doncaster host Crystal Palace.
