Sergio Ramos: 'Title race not over'

Sergio Ramos insists that Real Madrid are still in the La Liga title race, but concedes that his team will need to rely on Barcelona to slip up in the final months.

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has insisted that his team are still in the La Liga title race this season.

As it stands, Los Blancos are seven points behind the leaders Barcelona, who recorded a 3-1 victory in their game in hand against Sporting Gijon on Wednesday night.

Ramos has conceded that Los Blancos will have to rely on Barcelona dropping points in the remainder of the season, but is still confident of bringing the trophy to the Bernabeu.

"The title race is not over yet. There are still plenty of games ahead," Ramos told reporters. "But it is true that everything depends on Barcelona's results for us. We still have hope that we can win it, though.

"We must remain focused and ensure we do not spill any more points and push Barcelona right until the very end. Atletico Madrid are obviously still ahead of us in the title race as well, so we can only wait for them to slip up."

Real Madrid have not lifted the La Liga title since 2012.
