Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Real Madrid

Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's El Clasico showdown with Real Madrid.

Barcelona head into Saturday's El Clasico showdown versus Real Madrid with the opportunity to move to the top of the La Liga standings.

With Atletico Madrid not in action until Sunday night, Barcelona will overtake the long-time leaders by avoiding defeat against Los Blancos.

The Catalan giants warmed up for this contest with a 1-0 triumph over Real Valladolid on Monday evening, the decisive goal coming from Ousmane Dembele during the closing stages.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

Sergi Roberto

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: April 10 (vs. Real Madrid)

Despite returning to training after a lengthy injury layoff, no risks were taken on Sergi Roberto against Valladolid earlier this week. However, providing that he comes through training this week, the versatile Spaniard should feature among the replacements.

Ansu Fati

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Fati continues to recuperate from the serious knee injury he sustained in November, and recent reports have indicated that he may need to undergo surgery for the third time, so he will not be back any time soon.

Philippe Coutinho

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Coutinho is yet to feature in 2021 after suffering a knee injury against Eibar in December. It has since been revealed that the Brazilian will undergo surgery on the issue, resulting in the playmaker missing the remainder of the season.

Gerard Pique

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: April 10 (vs. Real Madrid)

Like with Sergi Roberto, Ronald Koeman opted against taking any risks on Pique for Monday's game with Valladolid. The veteran will be considered for a starting role against the club's fierce rivals, but it would come as a surprise if he does not feature on the substitutes' bench.

Neto

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: April 10 (vs. Real Madrid)

Backup goalkeeper Neto suffered an ankle sprain during a training session last week, subsequently ruling out him of the Valladolid match. The backup stopper is unlikely to recover in time for this contest.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barca have no players suspended for this match.
